The future written in digital

From startups to tech giants: how digitalization is shaping the future of the market.

Hello everyone, I’m Stavri Pici, CEO of Armundia Factory. It’s a great pleasure to welcome you to the first issue of Bit for Bite. This newsletter was born out of a desire to share my journey in the world of technology, exploring how software is changing the way we live and work.

Every day, we witness new digital revolutions shaping our future, and what I find truly exciting is that it’s not just the big companies making a difference. Small startups are also pushing the boundaries of innovation, proving that with the right ideas and tools, anything is possible.

Bit for Bite will be our space to track these changes across various market sectors and gain a broad perspective on how digital technology can support our daily lives. I can’t wait to share with you experiences, projects, and thoughts that I hope will inspire you.

The future of vehicles heading toward autonomous driving.

You can’t talk about digital revolutions in mobility without mentioning Tesla. This company has redefined the concept of the automobile, transforming it from a simple means of transportation into a true “computer on wheels”, with software at the heart of the vehicle. Tesla’s key innovation, over-the-air (OTA) updates, represents a significant technological leap. This feature allows vehicles to receive safety improvements and updates without needing a trip to the workshop.

Think about it: a car can become safer and more efficient solely through software. This continuous integration of digital solutions is shaping the future of driving, pushing it toward autonomy with sophisticated artificial intelligence systems.

Fintech algorithms for Buy Now, Pay Later Payments

Klarna is a Swedish fintech platform offering payment solutions, with a particular focus on the “Buy Now, Pay Later” (BNPL) model. This system allows users to make purchases online or in physical stores, splitting payments into installments or deferring them, without immediate use of credit cards. The technological core of Klarna lies in a sophisticated risk-scoring and credit underwriting algorithm. The software uses machine learning techniques to analyze a vast amount of data in real time, including purchasing behavior, demographic information, and past transactions, to assign a personalized risk profile to each customer. The algorithm leverages predictive models based on neural networks and advanced decision trees. It integrates seamlessly with major payment gateways and e-commerce platforms through scalable APIs, ensuring transaction security through end-to-end encryption and PCI-DSS compliance.

Innovation in Lead Melting

FASMELT is a cutting-edge furnace designed by CAM srl, a company specializing in the production of lead oxide ball mills and curing chambers for the lead-acid battery industry. This innovative system can melt lead ingots in just 20 minutes, eliminating the need for chimneys and reducing energy consumption by 60% compared to traditional furnaces. At the heart of FASMELT is proprietary software that automatically manages the entire operational cycle of the furnace. Through an intuitive user interface and real-time monitoring system, the software optimizes the melting process by dynamically adjusting critical parameters such as temperature and processing times. Thanks to advanced algorithms, FASMELT ensures consistent, high-quality production while also integrating an automatic dross removal system. This system uses sensors to monitor operating conditions, enhancing worker safety and reducing health risks. FASMELT was recently recognized as a finalist at the Green Economy Award, held on September 19 at Salone Margherita in Naples, a prize that celebrates sustainable innovation and positive environmental impact.
